Match permission to the task
Before granting access, ask what the app is doing at that moment. Is it taking an ID photo, asking you to select one document, or asking for broad access to unrelated information? The privacy notice should help explain the purpose and where to raise questions.
NPC Circular 2020-01 addresses loan-related data processing. Among its safeguards are limiting data collection and app permissions to what is necessary and not excessive. It discusses camera or photo access for identity verification and prohibits harvesting contact lists for debt collection or harassment. The linked circular is a specific reference, not a complete account of every current privacy rule.
Questions to ask before agreeing
- What exact information will be collected?
- Is this one file I choose, or access to a larger collection?
- Who receives the information and for what purpose?
- When is the permission no longer needed?
- How do I contact the provider about access, correction or a complaint?
Do not send documents to an unverified helper
If a chat account offers to complete an application for you, independently verify its relationship to the provider. Do not share passwords or one-time codes. An offer to “unlock” a loan is not a reason to hand over account control.
If something does not match
Pause the application and ask the provider through an official support channel. Keep relevant notices, requests and messages for your own records. For privacy concerns, consult the NPC’s current guidance and complaint process; for the identity of a lending company, check the appropriate regulator separately.
This site does not accept identity documents, contact lists or complaints on behalf of a provider. The calculator works locally and asks only for fictional or non-identifying amounts. No result depends on granting access to your camera, contacts or wallet account.
